Pastor Dave’s week six thoughts…
As we have stressed each week, we don’t go to church because we are good. If we are truly good, we don’t need church. We don’t need Jesus. But we are broken, we need forgiveness. The phrase “misery loves company” might fit here. We are all in this together. We need Jesus, we need forgiveness, we need each other.
Things to think about this week…
- As Mr. Rogers said, “In a world in which you can be anything, be kind”. If we consciously make that our focus, one person at a time, without thoughts of reward or recognition, think of how the world, or at least our little corner of it, might change. Think of how we would reflect our savior, who is the light of the world. That’s what is needed. There is plenty of malice and judgement. A little more of that won’t help.
- To paraphrase Micah: “what does God require of you, but to love kindness, seek justice, and to walk humbly with our God. In this way we are reflecting that “new commandment” Jesus gave at the last supper. “Love one another. As I have loved you so you should love another”.
And we remember….Love and kindness are ACTION words.
