Christeens began in 1964. It was started for the young girls of our congregation and that is how the name was chosen, Christ-in-teens. Each girl was assigned to a resident at Parkview Nursing Home, whom they were to visit once a week and do errands for them, read to them, or just sit with them. It was felt that the program greatly benefited not only the members of the group, but also the shut-ins and elderly people whom they visited regularly. Christeens continued through 1971, at the end of which there was not enough members to keep the organization continued. 1965 was the first year that the Christeens started in activity.
